Turaev-Viro theory and Extended TQFTs

In this talk, we describe Turaev-Viro theory as an extended (3-2-1) theory and discuss its relationship to the Reshetikhin-Turaev TQFT. In particular, we give a proof that as (3-2-1) theories, the Turaev-Viro TQFT determined by a spherical fusion category C is equivalent to the Reshetikhin-Turaev determined by Z(C), its Drinfeld center. We outline how this construction gives rise to a fully extended theory as described by Lurie.
