On the (co)amoebas of linear spaces

In this talk we give an overview of the current knowledge about the structure of amoebas and coamoebas of complex varieties of arbitrary codimension. Special emphasis will be made on the case of affine linear spaces, which has some natural connections to the theory of A-discriminants.
