Intersection theoretic obstructions to lifting tropical curves

Abstract:

In this talk I will first describe a method to intersect curves in tropical surfaces based on tropical modifications and contractions. Then I will present some local obstructions to lifting tropical curves in surfaces that arise from this intersection product. This talk is based on joint work in progress with Erwan Brugallé.
