Hopf algebroids and cyclic cohomology

I will give an introduction to the theory of Hopf algebroids and explain in which sense they are noncommutative generalizations of Lie groupoids and algebroids. After that I will explain how cyclic cohomology can be adapted to Hopf algebroids to give generalizations of groupoid and Lie algebroid cohomology.
