Christian Kassel: A cohomological invariant for groups out of quantum group theory
From CRCG-Wiki
Quantum groups can be seen as a far-reaching generalization of algebraic or Lie groups. Because of their non-commutative nature, they cannot be handled with classical geometric methods and new algebraic tools had to be developed. Now these tools can be used to define new invariants for classical (non-quantum) objects such as groups. My lecture will be devoted to the presentation of such an invariant. No preliminary knowledge on quantum groups will be needed to follow the lecture, which will be self-contained.
