An application of string topology in symplectic topology

In an article published in 2006, Fukaya outlined an argument which proves interesting new restrictions on Lagrangian submanifolds in ${\mathbf C}^n$ using string topology. In this talk, I will review his approach and outline a program to make it rigorous and more generally applicable. The main idea is to extract the relevant algebraic structures and describe them purely in terms of holomorphic curves, bypassing some of the technical difficulties related to chain-level string topology.
